The finished surface is only as good as the floor or wall underneath, so prep is part of every estimate.
Ceramic and floor tile
Ceramic or other tile for kitchens, entries and baths. Tile needs a flat, stable base, so mention cracks, uneven spots or previous tile that will be removed.
Wall and shower tile
Tile on walls, backsplashes and shower surfaces, including niches. See the bathroom page for shower-specific work.
Transitions and finishing
Where the new floor meets a doorway, stairs or another material, plus molding and baseboards that finish the edge.

Before you request an estimate
Do you install hardwood floors?
Yes. Hardwood flooring installation is part of GVS work, and the gallery includes a real example. Send your room dimensions and photos of the existing floor.
Can you tile over my existing floor?
It depends on the current surface and how level it is. GVS can look at photos and advise during the estimate.
Do you remove old flooring first?
Removal can be included if needed. Tell GVS what is there now so it can be part of the plan.
Should I buy the tile before the estimate?
Not required. You can share tile choices or samples, and GVS can discuss quantities and layout as part of the estimate.
How do I measure a room?
Measure length and width of each area in feet and multiply them. Note alcoves and closets separately. Rough numbers are fine to start.
