What the job involves

Where kitchen work starts and ends

Most kitchen projects are a mix of the following. You can ask for one piece or the whole sequence.

Cabinet and countertop coordination

Cabinets and counters are usually ordered and measured on their own schedule. GVS can help coordinate installation around the rest of the work, so tell us who is supplying them and when they arrive.

Tile backsplash and walls

A tile backsplash needs flat, sound walls behind it. Mention any drywall damage, old adhesive or uneven areas so the prep is included in the plan.

Flooring

Hardwood, ceramic or other flooring for the kitchen. Note whether old flooring has to be removed and whether the floor is level.

Drywall, painting and fixtures

Patching walls after cabinets or appliances move, painting once the dust is down, and installing sink and faucet fixtures. Plumbing and electrical scope is confirmed per job.

Plan your request

What to include in your request

  1. Your New Jersey city and ZIP code.
  2. A rough sketch or measurements of the kitchen, including ceiling height if you know it.
  3. Photos of the current cabinets, walls, floor and the area where the sink and appliances sit.
  4. Which items are already purchased, such as cabinets, counters, tile or appliances, and expected delivery dates.
  5. Whether the layout stays the same or walls, sink or appliances will be moved.

How it works

  1. Send your measurements, photos and a list of what is already ordered.
  2. GVS reviews the scope with you, asks about order of work and gives a free estimate.
  3. Demolition and repairs come first, then walls and floors, then tile, fixtures and final touches. The exact sequence is agreed for your kitchen.

Common questions

Before you request an estimate

Do you supply the cabinets and countertops?

Tell GVS in your request who is providing them. Installation and coordination can be planned into the estimate, and you can share what has already been ordered.

Can you install just a tile backsplash?

Yes, you can ask for a single piece of work. Send the wall dimensions and photos of the area behind the counter so the surface can be checked.

What order does kitchen work happen in?

Generally demolition and repairs, then walls and floors, then tile, cabinets and fixtures, then paint and final details. GVS confirms the sequence for your specific kitchen.

Is plumbing and electrical work included?

It is confirmed job by job. Mention a sink move, new outlets or lighting in your request so the scope can be reviewed accurately.

Do you have photos of finished kitchens?

Not yet in our gallery. We would rather show real related work, such as flooring and demolition prep, than use images that are not ours.

Ready to talk about your project?
